What is Magicodex?

Magicodex is an antique-looking book that comes to life. The book opens itself, and the pages turn over and flip back. And at the end, the book closes itself again.
It lives. It breathes. It listens. The Magicodex opens, closes, and flips pages independently—it’s not a trick, it’s a character in your performance.

Whether you’re showcasing spirit theatre, bizarre magic, illusions, or high-end mentalism, this prop creates a moment of wonder your audience won’t soon forget.

It is a refined, handcrafted instrument for illusionists, magicians, and conjurers who go beyond tricks. Specially designed for professional performers.

Each book is unique and handcrafted by the working performer and prop maker, Igor de Kort, the creator of The Flying Mask.

This isn’t a mass-produced piece, but a carefully constructed precision instrument. Limited numbers will be produced. And the books are numbered.

The Magicodex is designed for working performers: robust, compact, and easy to perform.

The book responds to a remote control, allowing you to control the movement of the pages in real time. This enables you to improvise —let your audience decide when the book comes to life! – Use it to reveal a prophecy… summon a ghost… or have it open to a page you’ve never touched. However, you incorporate it into your script, the Magicodex elevates any theatrical magic.

It is also possible to open and close the book manually.

Orders

As each book is handcrafted and it is a brand new invention, we don’t have any stock yet. Orders are taken. Consider an estimated order time of about 6-7 weeks at this moment. For specific questions or requests contact us.

Performance licence

Magicodex comes with a standard license to perform at venues with audiences of up to 900 persons. Audiences >900, tv-performances, amusement parks and talent shows are excluded from this standard licence.

For audiences >900, tv-performances and amusement parks an additional licence needs to be obtained from Brevis Magic. For use in talent shows, contact Brevis Magic.

Guarantee

Brevis Magic offers you 3 years of personal guarantee on production failures and malfunctioning. Because the book contains moving parts and electronics, regular maintenance is recommended when used intensively. The first maintenance is free of charge. Brevis Magic can also help you with the maintenance.

Technical information:

Magicodex is operated with a 433 Mhz remote control. Remote control range about 30 meters in open room.

It works with one rechargeable 6V battery. Two 6V batteries are included, one USB charger and one Volt-meter for the battery.

Operation/ control

The book can be opened automatically as well as manually. A sensor inside detects whether the book is open or closed.

The one-button Remote control can let you open or close the book with a simple code. You can also let the pages turn over or back, one by one, or all of them one after the other.

An example sequence is also added and can be activated by the remote control: opening the book, its pages, then going up and forth in the pages, and finally close the book.
